Tech Trainee Programme

Every year, we welcome a group of passionate Tech Trainees to our Product, Data and Tech organisation. Here, you will learn what it’s like to work behind-the-scenes building our Viaplay and Viafree platforms and what it takes to deliver world class experiences to our customers. Are you ready to shape the future of entertainment?

Your Role

We grow confident software developers and equip them with the skills and knowledge to tackle even the toughest challenge. As a Tech Trainee you will over the course of 12-months work as a contributing team member in several of our cross-functional and autonomous development teams. You will be covering all areas of the product development lifecycle; from cloud engineering and DevOps to backend development of our micro-services and client-side development of our web and mobile applications. You will also get to pursue your own projects with the support of a dedicated mentor who will be by your side throughout the year. By the end of your traineeship, you should be able to take on the role of an autonomous software engineer who can navigate your way through different teams and multiple technical platforms.

About the Programme

The traineeship starts in August every year and lasts for 12 months. It is a paid programme with the same benefits as all permanent employees. We believe you as an applicant are about to graduate, are passionate about working with the latest technologies and have programming experience in JavaScript.

"As a trainee at NENT you come in and spread your wings in a very supporting and appreciative environment. With the safety of an experienced team to lean back on you dare to jump in the pool at the deep end, which allows you to grow at a much faster pace than you otherwise would. I believe this is an opportunity that everyone should take."

"I really like that you’re placed in a team and become included from day one as anyone else in the team. The day-to-day tasks vary according to what you’re currently working on, which I really appreciate. It’s challenging, exciting and interesting to go to work and you’ll learn new stuff every day! "

"When I graduated from KTH, I wasn’t exactly sure in what area I wanted to specialise. For that reason, it was important for me to find a position where I could work with different areas such as cloud, frontend, backend and machine learning. Since the traineeship is based on rotation between different teams, you really get to find your passion and at the same time get to know the company in depth."

"My goal as a trainee is to become a fully functional employee at NENT, so I plan my day to day activities around that principle. By approaching different departments, taking part in meetings and brainstorming activities, studying technologies and working on assignments; I'm learning a lot about how NENT works behind the screens and where I could fit in.  There’s also so many people here who are excited about what they do and that excitement is contagious."

"One of the aspects our trainees really appreciate with the programme is that you rotate across different teams and work within different technical areas. By doing so, you expose yourself to new ideas and develop your understanding of software engineering. But with that said, we base the programme on each particular trainee and can tailor the programme to their needs and wishes."

Andreas Fundell, Engineering Manager and Programme Manager for the Tech Trainee Programme
