Two young women seek revenge on the men who lured them from eastern Europe to Sweden with false promises of a better life. Meanwhile, a mysterious figure takes hostages in a Stockholm hospital morgue. With the lines between criminal and victim rapidly blurring, police inspector Ewert Grens (Leonard Terfelt: ‘The Bridge’) struggles to untangle a complex and deadly web of secrets. Does the elusive Box 21 of the title hold the answer? ‘Box 21’ is the first of four Viaplay Group original shows to be based on the novels of crime writing duo Anders Roslund and Börge Hellström, whose books have been translated into more than 35 languages. The series co-stars Mimosa Willamo (‘Deadwind’), Simon J. Berger (NENT Group’s ‘Hidden’), Joakim Sällquist (‘Goliat’), Sandra Andreis (‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’) and Ellen Jelinek (‘Miss Friman’s War’). Mani Maserrat (‘Modus’) directs. ‘Box 21’ is produced by Sandra Harms (‘Modus’) and Karl Fredrik Ulfung (‘Young Sophie Bell’) for Miso Film. The screenplay has been written by Dennis Magnusson (‘Jordskott’), Stefan Thunberg (‘Wallander’) and author Anders Roslund. ‘Box 21’ premiered exclusively on Viaplay on 17 January 2020.
